Sri Lanka Tailor-made Tour of Uga Resorts
by · Published · Updated
The East coast bears witness to some major development owing to the rapid influx of investment and tourists to the area post war. This once barren land marred by a 30 year civil conflict has grown to become one of the most popular tourist hotspots during its season from May through to October. Set on the pristine coasts of Trincomalee and Pasikudah, Uga Resorts have established themselves as one of the leading chain of hotels in the area. The team from Sri Lanka Tailor-made visited both resorts to see what all the fuss was about.
The first stop was Jungle Beach Resort. Tucked away in an area along the kuchchaveli beach stretch the hotel has its own unique charm and certainly lives up to its name of being a “jungle beach”. The hotel is quite compact although the rooms are quite spacious and offer either a (miniature) lagoon view or sea views. The service (I wish) could be as good as their sister property, the Ulagalla Resort but nevertheless we were well taken care of.
The next stop was the Uga Bay in Pasikudah, a beautiful Fortress styled resort with a huge land area, wide, open, undisturbed beaches and beautifully designed rooms – very spacious and luxuriously furnished. The rooms are either fully or partially sea view. Again, I have my bar set high with the Ulagalla resort in terms of service, but here too we were well taken care of.
The food overall was good, and did offer a variety in its spread. The beach bars are very well located and offer a decent selection of cocktails, mocktails and the rest of it.
All in all a good experience, and would definitely love to visit the resorts once again.
