Passion, it’s what drives us to where we belong, to engage ourselves to bring out the beauty in life. Sri Lanka, a tropical island known to be the pearl of the Indian Ocean is the ultimate place to be to fulfill your desires. You may seek for a sandy, sunny beach, a little bit of adventure, to experience rich culture or heritage, nature, wildlife, perhaps even to explore range of gastronomy, the beautiful island of Sri Lanka is the paradise to be to experience a little something of everything with a diverse culture of people who would put a smile on your face and make your day beautiful to begin and end with.
Why Sri Lanka is a paradise for everyone is because of the wonders the island has to offer is not limited to one type of tourism. Sri Lanka is blessed with much more than just a set of beautiful heavenly beaches, the essence to explore furthers to culture, heritage, religion, education, enjoyment, adventure, wildlife, relaxation. Everything you seek to discover in your passion to travel lies in the small island of Sri Lanka. The true uniqueness of travelling in Sri Lanka is that a person’s journey will be unlimited, each part of the small island is known for its true colours that represent value in various ways that allows the tourists to have a range of activities attached. Speaking from own experience having been raised with strict rules I was never a person who had the chance of travelling, but during a project undertaken from my currently enrolled university I was blessed with a chance to explore this beautiful island of Sri Lanka first hand.
Together we were not a small group, and as a whole there were 11 nationalities in the class covering the areas of all parts of Asia and Europe as well thus it was not an easy task to come to a decision on where to travel. After weeks of evaluating and proposing out, ideal decision for the tour was Sri Lanka. The reasons for this decision was solely based on value for money, after researching and collecting personal information and opinions, it was clear that Sri Lanka as a destination has a lot to offer. It doesn’t matter where you come from or how old you may be, there were hundreds of activities to participate in and explore within a short period of time for a value and reasonable cost.
Most importantly travelling to Sri Lanka gave us the opportunity to add variation to our journey, though our trip was only for a short term as 4 days we managed to explore 4 different locations of Sri Lanka each which had a specialty of its own. Thus all together we managed to explore the city life of Colombo, culture, heritage and education through visiting and reconnoitering the legends of the ancient city of Sigiriya; religious aspects and history by visiting the Kandy Temple of Tooth Relic also known as Dalanda Maligaway and finally enjoy a sunny day at one of the most happening beaches of Sri Lanka, Hikkaduwa known for its Surfing and diving activities and also last but not least the “NIGHT LIFE”. All of which managed to satisfy the needs and wants of all 30 persons attended to the tour from China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Italy, Switzerland, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Croatia, Oman, and Kazakhstan.
During the tour, even with a limited budget we all got to experience first class service at top hotels in all areas, with guides that detailed out all information on sites we visited, and operators that took care of all out requests.
First day of tour even though half day was gone by due to the flight, we managed to get a whole city tour of Colombo, stopping by beautiful scenic locations of importance such as the Independence square, Galle face, National Museum of Colombo, and also indulge in a shopping spree at the Pettah Bazzar area where you can find the most low cost shopping you can ever dream of, setting down to a buffet by the beach at the end of the day was a blessing relaxation. Starting off second day we travelled to the north central province, Dambulla, where we went up the rock fortress over 1200 steps in height. This was the most memorable of all, the surrounding was so coolly and breezy it took my breath away, the stories that runs by this ancient fortress is mind blowingly amazing. The tour guides at these sites are very talented as they are capable of speaking more than 6 languages, our guide was able to speak to the whole group in their various own languages which was quite amusing! The hotel we stayed this night Amaya Lake was incredible, there was a cultural show held, and situated right by the lake making it the ideal place for a slow relaxing day after an adventurous rock climbing.
Third day we set off to the high lands of Sri Lanka to experience the natural beauty and coolly atmosphere. Before setting off to Nuwara Eliya we stopped at Kandy to visit the Temple of Tooth Relic, on our way we were greatly enjoying the cool breeze that was passing us by, making the day more worthwhile. Everywhere we looked it was filled with beautiful landscapes of tea plantations, waterfalls and clouds passing by at low grounds. At night we enjoyed an amazing BBQ followed by a Sri Lankan Traditional band that played local music and sang all night with us which raised the spirits of everyone after a tiring day. The next day I woke up to the most beautiful morning of my life, looking out the balcony, it was filled with mist, with fresh air and the sound of a water fall right next to the hotel we stayed which was located at the top of a mountain. Having a cup of Ceylon tea at this weather is the ideal holiday one can dream of. After celebrating the cold hillside of Sri Lanka we set off to Hikkaduwa where we spent the whole day engaging in various activities, diving, surfing, relaxing by the beach, and taking advantage of the splendid pool at Chaaya Tranz. Arghhh!! it was heaven on earth. At the end of the tour everyone was very amused and happy of all the experience gained, looking back to visit soon. As a group ranging from all over the world, ageing from 19-37 we managed to discover Sri Lanka and experience the unique beauty of Sri Lanka together, as a whole each person’s perspective of a good holiday varies but ending the tour Sri Lanka was able to fulfill everyone’s perfect holiday, which is why this island is known as a “PARADISE FOR EVERYONE”.
