Jetwing Proudly Celebrates #EarthHour 2019!
#ConnectToEarth #Sustainability
Earth Hour in 2019 took place on Saturday March 30th, between 8.30pm and 9.30pm (GMT) worldwide!
We are immensely proud and glad to say as a company being concerned about sustainability, we as the Jetwing Family, celebrated this year’s earth hour at all our Jetwing properties.
Earth hour encourages people to think about the effects of climate change on our planet. Horizons across the world have dropped themselves into dusk last weekend as an emblematic plea to become more active on ‘climate change’. Henceforth, the entire earth went dark for 60 minutes on this symbolic call by switching off every possible electric appliance and lights since 2007 started in Australia spread across 7000 cities and towns worldwide, with 172 countries and territories!
Earth hour is celebrated all over the world where some of the world’s biggest landmarks including the Buckingham Palace, London Bridge, Sydney Opera House, and the Eiffel Tower switch off their lights when commemorating this hour in order to build awareness on a broad range of environmental issues and uniting people around the globe to protect the planet, which is yearly organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
Here in Sri Lanka, Jetwing joined hands with other local businesses, communities and individuals at 8.30pm for Earth Hour and switching off our lights for 60 minutes. Jetwing organized couple of commemorating activities on this moral awareness session by organizing a candle-lit dinner at the main restaurants of the Jetwing Hotels where 60+ symbol was also displayed with candles!
