Jetwing goes glamping

Sri Lanka’s Jetwing Hotels has embarked on a major expansion programme across the country. Among new properties are the company’s first city hotel, Jetwing Colombo 7, opening in December; the 55-room Jetwing Jaffna, and 10 luxury ‘glamping’ tents individually serviced by butlers at Yala.
Jetwing Colombo 7 will have 70 rooms and 28 serviced apartments, the first serviced apartments developed by the Jetwing group. It will also be Jetwing’s first city hotel.
Jetwing Jaffna, with 55 rooms, will be the company’s first project in the city. Eighty percent of the staff in Jaffna are graduates of Jetwing’s own student training programme.
Jetwing Kaduruketha is the latest link in Jetwing’s hospitality chain. Located in the village surroundings of Wellawaya, the property looks over 50 acres of paddy field to mountains. The hotel buys 50% of the annual rice harvest to support the growers.
Jie Jie Beach by Jetwing will open on January 1 next year in Panadura, an upcoming tourist destination only a short drive from Colombo. There will be 176 rooms and two suites, along with a spa, gym, pool, and banqueting/conferencing facilities.
Currently Jetwing has 27 hotels in Sri Lanka with four under development,
