The Mood : Vesak Poya, kandy, Sri Lanka
Vesak Poya is the celebration of Buddha’s birth,it’s usually in May and lasts for a week or so. People come from all over the country to celebrate in Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital. The all town is decorated with buddhist flags and paper lanterns. Most of the shops are closed for the occasion and people stroll around the lake in their Sunday’s best.
Green delight : Sri Lanka
The vegetation in Sri Lanka is of an infinite variety and refinement. It even sometimes feels like leaves are competing with flowers to know who will be fancier. The chiaroscuro in which they are often observed – because of the heavy vegetation or the cloudy tropical sky – is making them look even more sophisticated.
In Black & White : Sri Lanka
Where nature has always a part in the design.
The scene : Baby deer at breakfast, Sri Lanka
We’re in Sri Lanka, I know you’re imagining elephants, leopards and giant spiders, they have those, don’t worry, but they also have spotted deers. You know, the Bambi kind. It feels like they’re far away from the northern forest we imagine them in, but they’re right here, in the jungle. The group of deers you see above are actually orphans. From what we could gather, the villagers gave them to the hotel we were staying in, hoping they would take care of them. Now forget about that image you got of desperatly shy deers, that can only be observed from a distance. Those ones were like cats, always looking to be near people, searching occasions to get petted and mostly trying to get a taste of your yogurt. This was pretty incredible, and all the guests, Sri Lankans and foreigners alike, were astonished.
