As over 100 delegates and representatives of the international media flocked to the shores of Sri Lanka for a historic event, where the National Air Carrier SriLankan Airlines became the first South Asian carrier to join global alliance oneworld(r), a homegrown and family owned company played the vital role of host – Jetwing Hotels.
The day before the official unveiling ceremony which was held at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport saw delegates arriving at Jetwing Yala – the latest property to be launched by the country’s premier hospitality brand. Featuring 80 rooms and located only 45 minutes away from the airport, Jetwing Yala focuses on an experience of true luxury coupled with renowned Sri Lankan hospitality. The delegates participated in a special evening cocktail held by the poolside, with a distinct Asian and Lankan theme in all aspects.
Jetwing Blue, Negombo was home to the celebrations last month, with all attendees dressed in their best for a function that saw the 600 seating capacity ballroom packed featuring stilt walkers, Kandyan dancers and even a pantomime elephant. Internationally famed music duo Bathiya and Santhush were in top form, belting out hit after hit with the audience’s participation to ensure that the evening was enjoyed by all followed by an extravagant buffet spread consisting of dishes from all over the world and local delicacies that left no appetite unsated. Many followed up their stay with a variety of comments, particularly on the beauty of Sri Lanka and the friendliness of her people and also compliments on the quality of cuisine and the design of Jetwing hotels.
