by · Published · Updated
The young cricketers of the Gold Coast Juniors Cricket team, and their families visited Sri Lanka between April 05th and 17th 2015, to participate in a cricket tour of Sri Lanka. The purpose of the tour was to give the junior team a chance at experiencing Sri Lankan cricket and also to experience the culture of Sri Lanka. They were accompanied by their coaches Richard Griffiths and Nick Perera.
The under 15 players had matches scheduled with over 5 leading national school teams in Sri Lanka.
They also went onto tour some popular destinations including Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Galle. They were able to visit the Pinnawala elephant orphanage, explore Kandy city, and the Galle City and its surroundings.
While staying at Jetwing Lighthouse in Galle the team was able to experience and take part in the traditional Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations. They took part in the games like pillow fighting, gunny bag race and more.
Furthermore they took time off the tour to spend time with orphaned children at Maggona. They took time to speak with the children, play games and share their experiences.
Sri Lanka Tailor-made was proud to be a part of organizing the tour. We wish the team the very best and hope to see them back in Sri Lanka soon!
