Explore Sri Lanka – Jaffna

A 10 hour busride is not a comfortable journey to the North most city of Sri Lanka. But now we have Sri Lankan Air Force planes flying in & out of Jaffna, 3 times a week. 2 nights is a must & 3 nights are preferred when exploring Jaffna. The ferry ride to Nagadeepa Temple is a highly crowded journey. You can visit the Jaffna Library in the evening. This was one of the most famous libraries in Asia before it was destroyed in a fire. Now it has been restored.
On the next day you can visit Delft Island & witness wild horses. This is the only place in the entire country where you can see wild horses roaming around freely. There’re many Portugese & Dutch ruins in the island as well.
You can visit the Nallur kovil & also the Keeramalai pond in the morning. In the evening proceed to the Neelavarai well. It’s believed that this is a bottomless well.
There’s a very famous ice cream parlour in Jaffna where every traver stops by. Accommodation is still basic. However the food is very tasty & unique.
Jaffna – An entirely different world of its own.
