Over the past few months Sri Lanka has gone through extensive transformation to offer a pinnacle arena for one of the biggest events to venture into the country, The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2013 (CHOGM).
The magical serenity of the island has often enticed many to indulge and be a part, as senses soothe and experiences awaken. Only this time we are ready to unleash our fullest and showcase the resplendent island to the world.
The international stature of the event has urged us to put forth our finest. One of the most iconic unveiling was the expressway from the Bandaranayke International Airport (BIA) to Colombo which now takes only 20 minutes. Infrastructure within the country has taken a significant turn as easier access routes and convenient measures are being implemented for the betterment of travel.
The capital city, Colombo has had a complete makeover. Common sidewalks have been re-designed with creativity; trees and greenery have been infused throughout the city with the interest of sustainability, and city hotels are drawing towards completion after months of refurbishment to upgrade the quality of experiences and services.
CHOGM has brought in a significant interest for the present event and for the future of tourism in Sri Lanka. The nation stands as one, to welcome the rest of the world to experience the wonder of Asia..
