Colombo – Royal Colombo Golf Club 1879
The Royal Colombo Golf Club is situated within the city limits and belongs to a luxurious 130 year old club which is the second oldest Royal Golf Club outside the United Kingdom. It is a tranquil retreat surrounded by lively residential areas and business establishments ideal for relaxation. The picturesque landscape, the shimmering lake and a glimpse of rare wildlife on the course all contribute to this pastoral environment set within a 96 acre former farm that now rewards both strategic defensive golf and long hitting. The Kelani Valley railway line runs through the course with the occasional train surging past. This feature makes this golf course one of a kind!
Built in 1879, the clubhouse still has an old fashioned air of the colonial era. The teak paneled Governors Bar offers a choice of the finest wines, and the breezy veranda is a charming place to enjoy a drink or a meal and discuss your round. There is also a well stocked pro shop which provides a selection of clubs and bags to hire. As the club has a very prestigious reputation, there is the usual golf club dress code to be adhered to, both on the course and in the clubhouse. It is ideal for short term golf loving visitors to the city of Colombo.
Kandy – Victoria International Golf and Country Resort
The Victoria International Golf and Country Resort is located in the ancient hill capital of Kandy, bordering the Victoria Reservoir. It was recently constructed in a picturesque area surrounded by breathtaking views of neighboring mountains, the Knuckles mountain range and flowing landscapes. Nuwara Eliya – Nuwara Eliya Golf Club 1891
The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is nestled among the tea plantations of the central highlands. Built in 1891 by a Scottish soldier for the British serviceman and officials, the beautiful course is just walking distance from the town center and is still as well kept and challenging as it was over a century ago. The course has been claimed as one of the most naturally scenic in the world, surrounded by forested hills and pleasant climate. Visitors have claimed to have felt as if they were playing golf back in the British Isles! However it also holds many features unique to Sri Lanka such as the tropical fauna and flora which are present in abundance through out the majestic course.
The Golf club offers an eighteen hole championship course, of which at least six involve water and tight fairways, among other facilities. Trincomalee – Eagle’s Golf Links 2012
Eagle’s Golf Links, the fourth golf course in Sri Lanka was declared open on the 07th of January 2012 at Sri Lanka Air Force Academy, China Bay. Located in one of the most unlikely locations in Sri Lanka, China Bay in Trincomalee, the newest addition to the golf courses in Sri Lanka is a must for the professional golfer. Equipped with all of the modern golfing equipments, the golf course itself, boasts fairways that extend from par 3 to par 5. Obstacles created include water hazards, sand bunkers and doglegs in various directions to maximize the time spent at the course.
