Chef Kumar Pereira from the top selection of Master Chef Australia visited Sri Lanka for the second time in March 2015. It was a private tour he was hosting for close group of friends and family.
He liaised with Sri Lanka Tailor-made, a part of Jetwing Travels for organizing his culinary tour.
During his stay he stayed at the leading hotel chains of Jetwing and had a demo cookery session for his group at some of the properties. These included Jetwing Vil Uyana, Jetwing Lagoon, Jetwing Lighthouse, and Mosvold Villa by Jetwing.
Chef Kumar prepared several signature dishes some of which included;
- Sweet and sour Sri Lankan prawns, with wilted greens
- Tempura prawns with a tamarind, soy and kitul treacle sauce
- Tempura vegetables and prawns
- Fish stuffed with a spiced cashew filling and wrapped in banana leaves and grilled/bbq’d and served with a tamarind and chilli sauce
While thanking Jetwing Travels, Sri Lanka Tailor-made and Jetwing Hotels for helping to organize his tour, Chef Kumar proceeded to other locations in Sri Lanka to host more culinary events.
